City Council Proceedings.
Normal School Notes.

JANUARY 4, 1897.
The students have returned after the
holidav vacation and feel that they can
do more satisfactory work for the two
weeks vacation.
The old students have returned, and
with them several new ones.
A literary society has been organized
in the model department that even the
youngest in the school may have the
benefit of literary work.
Miss Nellie Towne, of Phoenix, a for
mer student of the Eugene University,
has entered school to remain for a year
and a half.
Bernard Spencer, ’96, visited school
Monday before his return to the Uni
versity.
The Normal Reading Room is of much
advantage to the school. A number of
the leading dailv and weekly papers are
on the table, besides the best of the
monthly magazines.
The reception, which was postponed
until after the vacation, will I mj held in
about two weeks. A musical and liter
ary program will be given at that time.
