Woe to him that buildeth a town with
blood and established a city by iniquity.
—Habakkuk 2: 12.

The Sabbath is recognized in the Con
stitution of the United States, and its
desecration forbidden by statutes both
state and national.
“Of the one hundred and thirty seven
counties in Georgia, one hundred and
twenty, all but seventeen, prohibit the
sale of intoxicating liquors.”
—Union Signal.
The ordination of Ballington Booth as
a Christian minister recently took place
in Chicago. Mr. Booth has not been or
dained into any particular denomina
tion, but into the Church of God in gen
eral.
It is well said: “The end of the Sab
bath would be for the United States the
beginning of the reign of Mammon, Bac
chus, Venus, and finally overwhelm us
in temporal and eternal ruin.”
“It is a very sad thing to make a mis
take and get the wrong bottle, and die;
but there are more people who die of
drinking from the right bottle than from
the wrong one. Beware of the wrong
bottle, and with it beware of all Ijottles
which hold that which intoxicates, and
which, though now it ‘moveth itself a-
right’ in the cup, at last ‘biteth like a
serpent, and stingeth like an adder.’ ”—
