ford yesterday.
—A. C. Dixon returned Friday eve­
ning from a camping trip.
—Miss Rosa Dodge came up from
Phoenix last Friday evening.
—Charlotte Praclit returned from
Portland on yesterday’s train.
—Thos. Jones, of Henly, came over to
Ashland on Monday evening’s train.
—James Savie went over to Yreka
last Thursday to work in the Clarendon
hotel.
—Horace Reeser returned home from
an extended visit in Salem and Portland
last Friday.
—Miss Theresa Bryant, deputy ' Jerk
of Jackson county, came up to Ashland
last Saturday.
—Mrs. Matthes and daughter, Jessie,
of Py<enix, have taken up their resid­
ence on south Main street.
—Miss Effie Wright went down to
Central Point last Saturday, returning
to Ashland on Monday’s train.
— Miss Susie Homes, of Ashland, the
Gold Hill school mistress, visited Ash­
land last Saturday ami Sunday.
— Miss Hypatia Kluni, of this place,
leaves this week for Bly, Klamath coun­
ty. where she will teach school.
— Henry Clint and North Ahlstrom
went to Marysville, Cal., last Saturday,
returning home Monday evening.
—Jesse and Guert McCall came home
from surveying near Gohl Hill. They
returned to work Thursday evening.
—Thos. Frisby, of Camp Creek, Lane
county, has disposed of his ranch there,
ami left with his family for Ashland by
team last Saturday. He will take up a
¡»ermanent residence on the boulevard
here.
—Rev. H. II. Mik off, of Berkeley,
Cal.. Coast Secratarv of the Congiega-
tional Church Building Sovietv. arrived
in Ashland last Saturday, remaing until
Monday. He delivered the Sunday eve­
ning sermon in the Congregational
church of this ¡»lace.
—While in Portland last week, one of
the A dvertiser reporters met A. E.
Matson, formerly ol this place. Mr.
Matson has been under the doctors’care
for some time, with reference to his eye
trouble. He has lost the sight of one
eye, and left Portland for San Francisco
Monday, October 5, to receive competent
treatment to save the remaining eye.
If all goes satisfactorilly, he will soon be
back at Ashland swinging the black­
smith’s hammer. His family is now re­
siding in Eureka, Cal.
