Miss Oro Buoy and Ouy Suavely
were married at Los Angeles Satur
day, October 10. Miss Buoy is the
daughter of Mrs. James Helms of Tal
ent. She is a very popular-young

mestis temperament nnd well quali
fied to make, homo life comfortable.
About ono yenr ago Mr. Snnvelv pur
chased n farm near Talent. He hns
shown himcsclf to be a younp man of
Rtering qualities. The couple have n
host of friends in Talent who wish
them well. They will reside nt Glen
doa, California where Mr. Snnvelv
bus interests in a Inrgc mercantile es
tablishment. The snirit of progress has com
pletely odminalcd thn school affairs
of Talent. The, only desire is to have
better schools then heretofore. At a
special meeting held in July the mut
ter of consolidation of the different
districts in Ihe vicinity of Talent was
considered by a vole of those present
nnd was decided in favor of consoli
dation. The argument presented was
that better seools could be hud 1J
uniting tun other wiso. It was ascer
tained that to settle the mutter of
consolidation if hud to be brought
heforc thn regular annual meeting in
Juno. In September Ihe mutter of
' admitting the ninth grade into schools
was siibmitled lo the voters and onr
ried. '
. : In thn effort to improve the school
considerable oxpenso to the district
has boon required. Tho Heboid dis
trict of Talent has a bonded indebted
ness. In order to unite with Iho other
districts pn equol tonus thin indebt
edness must bo pnid off. To admit
the ninth griiilu required the expense
of a new teacher. When I lie fall term
of Hcliool opened it ,wux found that
the present school building was not
large enough lo accoiiiodato tin) pupils
and thn building of an addition to the
school house beciiini) a necessity. By
their votes the tiurpayor of Iho dis
trict havu cheerfully, shown that in
order to improve the school they are
willing-to meet Ihe financial obliga
tions. The teachers have shown thai
Ihey are governed by Iho spirit of the
limes and are putting forth their best
efforts in tlin work, by impressing
Upon Ihe minds of Iho pupils Iho great
efforts tho taxpayers urn making in
their behalf. The oigth griule ami es-
pncinlly thn ninth grade pupils have
shown by their actions that they ap
preciate and feel grateful to the cit
izens of Talent for their willingness
to give them educational advantages.
The entertainment just given is only a
preliminary affair and tho teachers
and Iho pupils are arranging lo have
a belter and much larger entertain
ment, the pro ds to b used for the
purpose of purchasing supplies for
Ihe school.'
