MAN WEDS YOUNG GIRL

When "Uncle Jimmy" Fry, aged 78,
took to wife 16-year-old Annie Thom
as, up Rogue river a few- days ago,,
he secured not only his fourth mate,
but his first white one. "Uncle Jim
mie" has been a man of great activity
on Rogue river since earliest days,
and his descendants are settled dll
along that stream for many miles.
His first three wives were squaws.
A justice of the peace living near
Agnes performed the ceremony. The
. young woman came from the Illuhc
region.
OREGON PRUNES SENT
TO CHICAGO MARKET
EUGENE, )r., Sept. 17. The Al
len cannery here is packing and ship
ping Oregon prunes to Chicago, find
ing it a very profitable business.
Green prunes are packed in baskets,
four of the latter to a crate, labeled
"Oregon-Washiugton-Idaho prunes,"
the company having establishments
in the three states. Last week six
carloads of prunes were shipped from
here, and thus far this week the can
nery has averaged one car a day.
CHANGES MADE IN
LOCAL LAUNDRY CIRCLES
L. T. Boyce and B. H. Kirbv, pro
moters of the Medford steam laundry,
have dis)osed of their intrcst in that
concern and purchased the Southern
Oregon laundry at Ashland.' Emil
Cordes has also disposed of his in
terest in the proposed Medford in
stitution and has taken an active
interest in the Medford Domestic
laundry. Mr. Cordes, who is an ex
perienced laundry man, is consid
ered an acquisition to this already
first-class firm.
Hugo Waldick of San Francisco is
looking after business matters in
Medford.
