STATUS OF THE
CALIFORNIA CROP
The California Krnit Distributors
issued the following letter regarding
the stains of the California fruit crop
under date of September 7:
The following gives Ihii number of
ears of deciduous fruit sbipM'd to all
points by all members of this com
pany for the week' ending Monday
night, September H:
Plums and prunes 21 cars. The
shipment of this variety has dwin
dled down to three or four ears per
day and even this small shipment
cannot continue much longer.
Peaches 115 ears. Shipment of
Knlwnys is now as heavy us it will
he at any time during the season. As
predicted, the crop is very light and
previous estimates of 25 per cent of
a full crop will have to bo materially
cut down, us a large poreentugo of
the fruit on tho trees is not avail
able for shipment owing to various
decfcls. Another week will prtteti-
ullv clean up this variety. A lew
cars jif first class yellow Slings arc
still obtainable.
Pears H.i ears. As is tno easi
with the two preceding varieties, the
peur shipments continue to decrease
There will be a comparatively small
number of cars to be hud for future
hipmcnt. ' '
Grapes 100 enrs. The shipment
of grapes is now us heavy as it will
be at any time during the season.
The shinnicnts of H uck Prince are
practically completed and the move
ment now consists almost entirely of
Malagas and Tokays with tho latter
urcutlv in preiiondcrnnec. Late re
torts from the Ixidi district would in-
dica le thut previous predictions ot
an output not exceeding that of last
year are likely to bo borne out by
the facts. Quality ot the fruit is

been taking this variety so far u
prices considerably in advance of
those prevailing for the past two
seasons. Should the supply be no
lareer than anticipated there seems
to be no reason why the murke
should not be well maintiiiue
throughout the season.'
