j That the outbreak of typhoid fever
among the men of the battleship fleet
was due to bad potatoes was the of.
' ficial verdict of a naval physician on
Hie supply ship Celtic today, after
a thorough investigation. Tin- i.-c
cream and various oilier things on
the ship's bill of fare have been un
der suspicion, but it is now believe!
that potatoes were the cause of the
trouble. As a result of the examina
tion of the hundreds of barrels about
(10 per cent have been condemned,
and today the vessel steamed out lo
sea and dumped them overboard.
