GREAT DAY AT

Splendid Time Was Had by Residents

on Fourth of July.

One of llin moht delightful, inter

The iluy was, briglit, beautiful and
refreshingly cool, tho crowd was

patronage. The festivities, consist?

horse mid foot racing, were attend

Tuken altogether tho day wax pass
ed most pleasantly. All the stores
and merchants enjoyed most excel

any murmur or complaint that Butte
Falls did not do itself credit and de

celebration brought to it.
Many of the residents of Dudley,
Brownsboro, Eagle Point and other
sections joined in our celebration and
express themselves as greatly pleas
ed with the "boosting," progressive
spirit of the Bntte Falls people.
Butte Falls can boast of bavin,
one of thn most benutiful young worn
en in the person of Miss Frnnkie
Obenehiiin,' with a complexion of
creamy tint, large, lustrous brown
eyes, arched eyebrows, lovely, silky
brown hair, and rosy lips, enclosing
n set of pearly teeth, and a Venus
figuro, Miss Frnnkie would attract
the attention of the admirers of th;

tion paving, money allotted to this
street.
Mayor Canon and members of the
city council are receiving the con
gratulations today on havinp; been
able to successfully carry out both
paving and wnter extension programs
despite seemingly insurmountable ob
jections, and at u reduced figure,
thereby saving many thousands of
dollars to the taxpayers. They found
insufficient funds in the treasury for
paving intersections, and none at nil
for wnter mains, but by hard work
with the paving contractors and by
securing a charter amendment per
mitting the application of the llnn
croft net to the water mains, nnd
stirring up ti competitive bidder, have
successfully enrried out the work of
municipnl improvement at a saving
to taxpayors.
Medford is to be congratulated on
having such iin efficient set of pub-
