To do thist will be necessary to ob-1 tain a large number of volunteer ob- servers who will collect material on the time of leafing, blossoming nnd j fruiting of the various kinds of for est trees. Tn his letter inviting the I co-opcrntion of the tonohers. For-,' ester Pinchot says: "Knowlndce of this kind is trrenflv needed nnd will be of value from the standpoint both of education nnd of practical forestry.
