Secretary Wilson of the Depart
ment of Agriculture, has directed that
thorough examination be made dur
ing the coming summer of all forest
reserves by agents of the Oeologieal
yurvcy and that classifieation bo
made of all tmu -timbered areas and
land more valuable for agriculture
than timber, with a view to eliminat
ing such lands from the forests and
placing them at the disposal of the
public for settlement and entry. It is
estimated that .10 per cent of tho for
est reserve areas will be res to rod to
public use if Secretary Wilson's or
der is carried into effect.
