gold mines, located near Kenith,
which have been acquired by the Car
negie group of mines (limited) com
pany, which is composed of the fol
lowing well known business men of

Joyce. The transaction has jnst been
recorded iu this city and the consid

ALBANY IS ON LOOKOUT
FOR CHEAPER PAVING
AMJANY, Or., April 15. A paving
company of Portland is milking pre
liminary arrangements for the pav
ing of First und Second streets, in
keeping with the contract awarded
sonic time ago. The rock crusher has
been built in the southeastern portion
nf the city. The rock is to be brought
from quurries near Niagara, near the
terminus, of the Corvallis & Kastcrn,
in the Cascade mountains. Plans are
being considered for additional pav
ing, first of Lyon street, leading from
the depot to the business portion of
the city, along the course of the elec
tric line. The various kinds and costs
of paving are being considered, and
it is quite possible that some cheaper
paving may be tried. '
