Startling figures covering tho ravages of con sumption and pulmonary diseases in Ohio are given out by the new state bureau of vital statistics in its first roport. The bureau has been in opera tion less than a month. Tho first mortality report issued by State Registrar Watkins shows that lung diseases far outstrip all other causes of death. The report covers 17l9 deaths during the last ten days of December. Of this number an even L'OO wero f mm tuberculosis, of which Ifiy were pulmonary. Closely follow ing is pneumonia, which caused 171 deaths. Ninety deaths were due to cancer. SPECIAL TO REVISE THE TARIFF CALLED MARCH 10 WASHINGTON. Feb. 12. The spe cial session of the (list congress which will be called to revise the tariff will begin March Dt, if an agreement reach ed by Speaker Cannon and Senators A Id rich, Hale and Knox meets with the approval of President-elect Taft, and no doubt is expressed that the date will prove satisfactory to him. Speaker Cannon is desirous that the session shall begin as soon as possible in order that the disturbances of busi ness conditions incident to the revision of the tariff shall be cut as short an possible.
