("'j ;; MSGIYW-G AT THE CLOTHING no IT IT A rr AM TIES It MODEL I - - - i QLD PAPERS ' ARE FOUND In Records of, Circuit Cort papers of 1865 are jDug Up. In re-indexing the files, and trnnsfer iug them from the old wood canes to the modern steel receptacles in . the county clerk 'a office, Mr. Sexton un covered a unique legal document, says the Jacksonville Post. Tho document whb a cane in tlio cir cuit court, untitled "Action to lieeovor Porsonnl Property." J. N. T. Millor vt. W. O. T'Vnult. Tliis action grow out of tho "Tnblo liock Sentinel," owned by T 'Vault and sold to .1. N. T. MilKr, who was at that time publishing the "Oregon Reporter." Pour issues of tho "Oregon Report er" avo on file in tho clerk's offico as evidence: in tho case, the dales on these papers are: Mnrch 15, ISIiuj March 25, i 805 j April H, 18B5; and May 13, 1865. The manuscript covers were leather, with the index written with ink on the outor side of the cover and securely sewed to the book with heavy twine string. The "Oregon Reporter" was a week ly paper, and tho Issue of March 15 was Vol.. 1, No. 11, being 11 weeks old. The typo was badly wora and the columns wore 14 "ems" wide, or slightly wider than tho columns of the Post. This pa per was democratic liticnlly, and contained many articles about the war. One of tho articles, "The View of .left" Davis on rence," will appear in the next issue of tho Post. This article is interesting inasmuch an it was written during war times. Tho editorials in those days wore chiefly "roasts" for soaieoae who did not bcliovo as the editor believed. The news portion of the paper gives a very irood sketch of history of Jacksonville. Wo could not find ami figures on the population of tho city, but would judge that Jacksonville was a city that time with about 1000 population. WILL SUBMIT DESIGNS .
