LIGHTNING REVELS
MRS. OUNNESS ALIVE
LA l'UHTK, hid., Nov. 17. Hint
meat corroboral ivc of the uppeuruuee
of Mrs, 1 telle 'iuuiM'Hs in the flush long
after she was suppused to have been
I burned, with tionie uf her many victims,
was given today by Frederick Lam
bright, a local teamster, who is to testi
fy in (he trial of Nov Lamphero on the
charge of murdering the notorious wom
an. Aecording to Latubright, he was sure
he saw Mrs. (inn new since the fire of
April the date being about ' the
middle of July. The witness told a
vivid story. He was driving in n night
thunderstorm, he said, from the koine
of William Humphrey, to La port e, the
mail leading past tint (iuuiii'ss farm.
As he reached the farm gate a car
riage loomed out of Ihe darkness, and
turned in toward "Murder Jiill." Just
then a flash of lightning revealed the
oceupaiits of t he vehicle.
"One of the faces," said Lainbright,
"was that of Mr, (lunness. The other
was that of u man I never saw before
or since until three days ago' on Main
street 1 saw either that man or his
twin brother. The woman was unveiled
that night ami wore a deep black suit."
MILLION YOUNG TROUT
EACH YEAR FOR ROGUE
HARBOR POLICE LOOKING
FOR BOYS WHO ARE LOST
SAN FlfANClSO. Cal., Nov. 17.
The harbor police today failed to find
traee of four boys who were reported to
have been lost on the bay sineu yester
day afternoon. The police patrol boat
has been searching all night, but ow
ing to the fog has been unable to find
either th" lads ur the skiff in which
they embarked. It is believed that they
drifted beyond the heads ur were cap
tird. The missing youths are (leorge
Langridge, 1.1 years; Joseph Mark, lo;
Muck Cnslello, 17, and Charles Young,
I.'.: The boys took u flat bottomed .
skiff from the float of the Dolphin !
Itoat club. When they failed to return j
last night, tin parents notified the po- j
lice and a search was started.
A million young trout each year to
restock the Itogue river and tributaries
m one of the main objects of the newly
organized Fish Protective association,
These young fish can be secured from
. I ho government upon application and
ihruiigh Senator JonaLhau Bourne, who
is on the senate committee on fisheries.
"We estimate that it will take at
bast a, million young trout a year for
Mime years to replenish the supplv,
states Dr. Louis Buudy, secretnry-treaB
nrer of the association. "To restock
the streams is as important as our work
in protecting the fish after we gel
them. Of the million fry, half will be
t urned loose In the Itogue, the other
half in Big Butte, Little Butte, the
Applegate and other streams.
"Hteelhend and rainbow are the va
rieties wanted in the Kogue. Cutthroat,
black spotted and eastern brook trout
:rc needed for the smaller streams. It
does not cost much money to secure
Ihe young fish, but it devolves upon us
to pay for their traimportation from
the railroads and for planting them in
;he various streams. This is what tho
membership dues in the association are
. for.
"In Sunday's Oregonian is a full
page write-up of fishing in tho Rogue,
with illustrations. These articles are
Ihe ITest advertising this region can
have, but what is the use of bringing
people here to fih if there are no fish
to catch f They are disappointed and go
away knocking tho region. If we enu
protect the fish and restock the streams
we will have hundreds of people coming
here annually just for the fishing.
Therefore, everybody should join the
Protective association. "
