Cousin and Playmate of
Local Man Reelected to
Congress From 6hIo
Hon. V. E. Tou Velle. couiin and
playmate of Colonel Frank L. Tou Velle
of 31 it ford, 1ms been re elected to eon-
gn-HM from the Fourth diitrict of Ohio
ly a plurality of 7000 votei, because
no Das "mado good." He ig a demo
crat mid mado the campaign for Bryan,
who also carried the district. Mercer
county, Mr. Tou Velle 'b home county,
gave Bryan 2.109 plurality and is now
the Imiiuer democratic county of Ohio.
Says thu Mercer County Standard,
published at Celiua, O.:
"Hon. W. E. Tou Velle has been ro
elocti'd to oougress in the Fourth dii
trict by a majority of over 7000. For
his second term candidacy Mr, Tou
Voile had no opposition aud virtually
nonu to his re-election, his opponent,
Mulligan, of Allen, failing oven to Blake
iuroadit in his home county.
"Ju Mr. Tou- Velle 's own county the
congressman has the distinction of hav
ing run ahead of Mr. Bryan, Hou
Wile's vote being 4070, while the Bry
uu vote for 4.4;)S.
Has Made Good His Promises.
"J'opuJarly known through the dis

cause ho is the first congressman this
historic county has had Jn 50 years,
Mr. J'oii VtHle has in every hcubu of

"Although a new man when congress
enlivened in. December, 1H07, Mr. Tou
Velio Huou came to be recognized as
one of the hardest working members of
the hou ho. Furthermore, he soon ac
quired the distinction of being able to
Hocuro the thingo he wont after. He
was accorded that respect and consider
ation which does not always come to
the "new" member bocause our mem

who wanted to do things, and who had
como to congress to make good his prom

Willi Mr. Tou Velle at Washing
ton our people feel that they have a
clean, conscientious, honorable repre

standing among men is such as in every
way reflects credit upon tho district.
, Not tho tool of any corporate interest,
"lint actuated only by the highest and
purest of motives, loving the pooplo of
his district and determined to ropay in
every way the trust imposed iu him !
and made manifest by Iiib selection as;

the man from Mercer nnd in no way !

AMUSEMENTS.
"Biff Just Like That."
To Charles Doyle Hazel rigg, who made
it possible that Medford have a place
in which to see a show like "Just Out
of College," who rushed tho work in
time to make the date, in short, who
made Medford laugh bo all honor and
glory forever. Medford is better to
day, thank you, for having seen thai
si'reamingly funny piny, from the pen
f George Ade.
(lenrge Ado is his own best advance
agent. His "Collego Widow" captured
the country, flirted with it, nnd turned
it down. Hut Ade has in a measure
made up for his capricious widow by
giving to n play loving people his' Just
Out of College." And how good it seem
ed to see a "real livo" light comedy
mien more.
While many of Medford 's people ex
pected a grand new opera house, they
wore content when they tried out the
old one refitted and found it comfort
able. The sloping floors made ft great
improvement, as did the opera chairs.
The walls will be tinted before the
next production and that will give .an
added tone to the interior. The stage
is largo enough,, to hang any scenery
accommodated by Portland playhouses,
nnd is well fitted up with modern con
veniences. There is but little need to
dwell upon the show as presented Mon
day evening. Everything lent aid to
its success and everything went off
"Biff Just like that."
Welsh Wrestles West
Much interest is being taken in the
return match between W. II. West of
this city and Jack Welsh of the Twin
cities on Wednesday evening at the
opera house. The men made good in
their last match and no doubt a large
miinliiT wilt hn on hand Wednesday to
see a Bier Burlv Bov Beat a Big Burly1
Boy.
Tickets have been placed on sale at
Hankins' drug store.
Coming, to The Medford Theater next
Vridav. November 20, is the well known
actor, Mr. Lee Willard. Ho brings his
own eastern company with him and
will present for the first time in Med
ford tho beautiful three net comedy
drama. "A Poor Relation, " from, the
pen of Edward E. Kidder. It was used
as a starring vehicle for five seasons by
the famous Sol Smith Russell.

Another strong performance is billed

A country boy, who hac taken a corre
spondence course in the art of being
a detective, comes to the city to try his
luck. At hrst his experiences arc dis
couraging, but his blunders turn out nil
right as he ib a fool for luck.
The picture showing tho "Pans Fire
Brigade" going through their various
drills is excellent. The novelty of the
movements and the fine photographic
quality of the pictures nro features of
the films.

At the BijotL
Vaudeville continues to be a big draw
ing card at the Bijou. The fact is the
entertainment is of a high order and the (
public is appreciating it as such. The
public will from time to time be af- I
forded rare treats in a musical ana ,
camedy line. The type of vaudeville '
which so often characterizes light vau- ;
deville houses pnsvsing features of
a rather raw nature ic not to be tron
at the Bijou. The performances will
be free from vulgarity. Mr. and Mrs.
Chas. Ellis are more than pleasing their
audiences. They appear tonight in the
one-act play, "The Opera Singer's Hus
band," also in some highly interesting
specialties. Vaudeville and moving pic
tures will be run throughout the week.
Entire change of program tomorrow
night.
SPRAY YOUR ORCIIAHDS NOW
For Sana Jose Scale, and Use Sampson's
Concentrated Lime and Sul
phur Solution,
Scale lives and works all the year
round. Don't forget this. As the old
scale dies the uew is ready to curry on
the destruction of our orchards.
The scale is less vigorous in the fall,
and more easily and surely destroyed
thau m uny other season of the year.
Therefore now ib the best time to at
tack and kill it. If you spray now,
many a valuablo tree wilt be saved that
otherwise, because of the scale, would
not retain life enough to start up in
the spring.
You ha more time now; there is
less wind to scatter nnd waste the
spray, and make it hard to cover ovory
part. Then, too, you cannot tell what
may happen to pro von t thorough spray
ing in tho fall.
But, above all, the result of fall
spraying nro absolutely certain.
Sulphur Solution.
These artvull "spray facts."
We claim no wonderful chemical dis
covery in this spray, but we do claim
most emphatically that:
Sampson's lime nnd sulphur solution1
always produces satisfactory results,
and does no injury. There is no bettor :
spray manufactured than Sampson 's 1
limo and sulphur solution. .

signs of this character about Medford. We
always find a desirable tenant before a good
building has beon "to let" more than 24

"under the hanimpr." This is as it should
