People of the City of Medford
want water, and somen f them want the
city to own and operate the water sys
tem. If the gravity system wins, then the
city wi.ll operate, the water system and
tho city council will fix the, water rates
and It will lure people to run it.
- Now, the same thing will happen if
the pumping proposition wins. The city
will own and operate tho water system
and tho city council will fixo the water
rates, and it will hire the Condor com
pany to run the water system, and it
Will be under the control and supervi
sion of the city council.
I Now, what is the difference whether
tho city council hires some people to
run the water system or hires the Con
dor company (a corporation) to run it?
. The city of Medford' for Homo yours
past has had different city councils hire
people to run the water system, and
they 1m vn all run tho city in debt and
have not oven paid operating expenses,
much Iohh interest or any portion of the
water d'bt.
The city of Medford had a similar
(txporionce with tho electric light sys
tem, but It now hires the Condor Wa
ter & Power company (n corporation)
tor un it for them, and for this service
It gives tho ( 'ondor company U5 per
cent of the gross revenue.
Elictrlc Light SyHtom.
What. Is tho result nf tho operation
of tho electric light system by the Con
dor company?
! Tho city is now getting at the rate
of $1000 per year out of the light sys
tem, and most of its street lights free,
Whereas under city operation tho city
went deeper in debt every year.
. The question is, then, which is the
better for tho people?
Do you want th oily council to run
the wnter system in tho future, with
n change of help and a change of pol
icy evory year?
i What can you expect of a city coun
cil, now matter how honorable or hon
est they are, when they have other
business to attend to and do not under
stand the operation of a water system?
Can you expect any city council to
devote their time and energies in run
ning a water system without pay for
their services?
.. The city needs efficient, economical
management, and it can get that by
employing the Condor Water & Power
company.
.- Corporation management in the immt
eltleient and economical management in
the world.
This is proven by tho fact that the
majority of light and water systems,
railroads, etc., are run by corporations.
If tho Condor pumping proposition
Wins, tho city council would fix the
fates and fix tint profits and have con
trol (it all times of the Condor i nun ago
meat, insuring pun water and plenty
of it, more efficient service and lower
water rates and a lower rate of taxa
tion. Wood Plpo.

tho Mail would have you believe, why
Was it not installed in the city iustaad
