At the Savoy,
The performance las! night at tin
Savoy was excellent and pleased u large J
audience. ' ' The Water Sprite " in u 1
picture port raying a German legend of
Ihe, Khiiie. The water scenery of this
pie t uie is very beautiful and colored
rue o nature. Thin legend is well act
ed and tells a story with a strong
moral,
"Two Clever Detectives," u farce,
comedy picture, portrays the efforts of
two zealous and clever detectives to
capture a jewel thief and earn a large
reward. Many sidesplitting situations
occur which caused a great deal of
laughter. The picture merits it. "The
Little Detective" is a very realislic
melodrama, showing that strong cir
cumstantial evidence should not con
vict a man of murder.
The pictorial lyric, "Beside the Old
Oak Gate," was sung in u most pleas
dig manner by Mian Kifert.
The sit m u performance will be given
tonight.
Next Wednesday and Thursday the
management will put on pictured pur
I raying the Olympic games, This race
tvus very exciting, especially tin1 finish.
It causes comment all over the civil
i.'-d world. Johnny Hayes, the winner
of this race, Hmithsoii, Kelly and Gil
bert, the great Oregon athletes, Were
tendered a reception in New York City
that etpiuled the ovation accorded
Mryan upon bin return from his trip
around the world. This iu an attraction
that no one can afford to mifs. Iff
member the date, tomorrow and Thurs
day.
At the Bijou.
An excellent frontiers' day reprodnc
tion is on ut the Bijou tonight. "The
Frou t ierMinau 's Bride " is full of in
tcrcstiug scenes and is one of great
reality. The opening scene of thu pic
ture shows the home of the frontiers
man on tho banks of a western river.
The frontiersman is juHt returning home
in his canoe from a day's hunting and
his wife is down at tho river to meet
him. Together they walk home ami sit
down to tin1 evening meal. Here they
aro attacked by a band of Arapahoe
I ml inns. The Imliiuis bind t he frou
tiiTMinun hand and foot and dace him
in the house, then setting fire to the
house. They carry away the wife, iu
tending to burn her at the stake. In
Ihe meantime the husband manages to
' raw I to a nearby ranch and spreads
the news of Ihe Indian raid. The rani h
ors then n I" the rescue. It is n
thrilling finjit that, takes place between
the Indians and ranchers. The ranch
ei's finally recover the f rent iersman V
wife f ruin Ihe Indians.
An excepl ionally good comic entitled.
"Oh, What An Appetite." is included
in this performance; alno a beautiful
illustrated song.
