FIRES NEAR BUTTE

the Little licit mountains, aecordiag to
word received here from Camp linker.
A great tract of timber laud has been
swept over and the fires are spreading
rapidly. There is practically no means
of fighting the fire in its present track
ami no estimate can be made of the
amount of damage.
The forest fires in western Montana
now are under control and the loss ill
that seel inn is heavy. The flames were

desperate efforts oil the part of rang
ers and volunteers.
