shown I iv t In I'dllnwinu; original eilitoi'iiils, one of them
printed in the lin.okkn Daily lai;le and the other in the
Medford Mail ten ilavs later.
Of eoiirse the similarity is merely a eninridenee. The
Eagle calls itself a denn.erat i.- iaier, like the Sun, the
World and other New York papers, ami is faithful to its
Vi.ll street owners. Its denioeraey is that of the ltyan
Relmont type, so liiiieh like its twin, the republicanism of
J'ierpont Morgan, that the two cannot he told apart, and
the platform is anything t ntiiuie the reign of plutoc
racy. That the Medford Mail echoes the thoughts ami
even the language of the Standard Oil crowd instead id'
espousing the cause of the pie is proved conclusively
in the deadly parallel.
"lie who steals my purse steaks trash." and he who
steals editorials also sometimes steals trash- hut it is the
habit of the plunderbund to steal everything that hands
can be laid upon.

be pa rate aeries of numbers for each
lass of entries has been iu use at the
listrict land office such as the home
steaJ series (original, homestead series
(final), riesvrt land series, mineral se

only numbered when allowed or tip
proved. I'nder the new system eaih
lialrirt land office will maintain hut
one aeriea of numbers for all kimlt
of entries. Application and entries will
be numbered nt the tunic aud in the
order iu which thev are presented or
received at the district laud of I ices,
before they are cousidered for the pur
Pom of allowauco or rejection. This will
permit of a readv determination of
the priority of filing of each appliea
tiou or entry.
Receipts for All Moiioy.
Auother important change is in th
method of issuing receipts for money ;
paid to receivers. Applicants and entry
men heretofore have beeu compelled to
tender money with their applications
and entriea, and no receipt would issue
until it was determined whether the
application or entry could be allowed.
Many applicants seriously objected
the depositing of their money without
some form of acknowledgment of it
ipt. A new form of receipts has been
adopted. These receipts are serially
numbered, before coming into the hands
of receiver, with one series of iiuiii
Iters for all receivers. Press copies are
made of all receipts issued, und for
warded to the general dar.d office at
the end of each month. All persons
( uderilig moneys to receivers will here
after be given a receipt therefor at the
lime the money i teuderd.
New Forma of Blank.
Blanks for thre rturutt and account
of local offices to the general lam
office have been reduced to a uniform
size to accommodate, the ordinar si.e
typewriting machine. Heretofore th
blanks have been of large, unwieldy
size, which necessitated making 1 hem

cases the local offices were compelled
to practically suspend business until
