Eagle Point vs. Butte Falls.
One of the mosl hotly contesteit games
of baseball was that played between
the F.agle Point nine and the Butte
Falls nine July 4 at Butte Falls. The
game began in a whirl, was rushed in
all innings and after n hard fought
battle resulted in a score of fl to
in favor of Butte Falls. Some fine
work was done both at tho bat nnd in
the field, nnd, considering that the nine
of Butte Falls were only organized
within the week, or ns part were ama
teurs, while Fagle Point nine has been
considered a crack nine, the victory of
Butte Falls was remaikable. Messrs. Ba
ker. Telfer, Stoddard nnd .others of
Butte Pnlls' nine played exceedingly
fine ball, while the boys of Tingle Point
exerted themselves to snatch the laurels-
of the day,, but Butte Falls boys
have been dwelling amidst mountain
fastnesses, drinking mountain nectar
aud breathing balmy air and enjoying
the sweetest of slumber, rocked to sleep i
by the songs of waters dashing over I
rocks and rushing todavs the ocean. 1
