ENJOIN FISHERMEN
FROM USING BAR
n
li. T). Hume, lhe salmon king, is not
tho only mini that enn get into court
uver liogue river fishing. What prom
ises to be an interesting fight is now
poses. Just above this bar and just be
cfturt will bring out some fine legal
points. Opposite the old Raiiau hop
ranch on the river is a bar some quar
ter of a mile in length and it is the only
suitable place in that vicinity for the
fishermen to land with their nets. T.
B. Cornell and W. H. Flanuigaii bought
the hop ranch from lianzau. but the
lat t or leased t he ha r for fishing pur
poses. Just above this bar and jiise be
low are some of tho best fishing grounds
along the river and all the fishermen
have been landing their nets on the
bar.
Xow comes John ITnnznu with fin in
junction against S. S. Clvburn, a fish
orman, prohibit ing him f rom landing
his nets on tho bar in question. If n
permanent injunction is secured it will
prohibit all other fishermen from land
ing on the bar and will leave the fish
jug of that part of the river entirely in
the hands of Ranzau. Grants Pass Ob

IN KLAMATH COUNTY
Throughout the entire Klamath basin
the prospects for average crops are very
good. Drv laud crops are looking quite
well, but an- not as far advanced as
they usually are at this time of the
year, says tho Herald"
In tho vicinity of Merrill the alfalfa
fiidds, which are under the ditch, give
promise of at least an average flield at
the first cutt ing. The haying season
will ho a few weeks later this year
thun last year, and the cutting of al
falfa will begin in tho course of a
week or two. In some places in the
lower part of the valley n few small
patches have already boon cut, but on
all of the large ranches preparations
are just being made to begin the hay
harvest. Mot of the large stockmen
are of the opinion that there will be
enough hay to supply the demand and
that the price of stock cattle will keep
up throughout tip- entire feeding sea
