Prospects Better Throughout

forthcoming crop of wheat, the most
important with the exception of lust

Oregon and the Inland Empire from

The Iowa ramp boys arc visiting in
Butte Falls quite frequently. We
think our beautiful girls are the at

have purchased residence lots in Butte
Falls.
Mr. Wilsoa left the Falls for his

Grigsby and child of California to the

practicing for the game of baseball to
be played the Fourth of July with
the Kagle Point team.
Frank Netherland has gone on a
bear hunting trip and Mr. Lewis will
soon join hiin and Will Chambers ex
ppcts to go to Sprague river.

ANOTHER BALL GAME
IN CITY ON SUNDAY

weeks in order to give the hall play
ers a chance to make enough money
to pay up their outstanding bills. Sun
day's game will be played with Ash
land. The grounds will be put in con
dition and a good game is assured.
Grants Pass will be played in the
near future; also the O. It. & X.
team of Portland. Jacksonville re
fuses to give Medford a return game
on our home grounds, an usual, and
will not be scheduled.1

NEW PHOENIX SCHOOL
The numbers of the Phoenix school
board were in Medford yesterday and
completed the arrangements with Per
kins & Lyons, architects, for the ac
e.ptance uf their plans for the ne
Phoenix school soon to be erected at a
cost of $15,000. The new school will
be a two-story brick building, modem
and handsome, reflecting .great credit
ou the designers.
The plans of Perkins & Lyons were
selected from a number which were
submitted, including designs by Charles
Burgraff of Albany, Free Thomas of
Kugene and J. A. Mcintosh of Medford.
With such nrrav of competition it is
quite u feather in the caps of the loeal

CONSERVATIVES WIN
. VICTORY IN CANADA
VAXCOCVKIi, B. C, June 11.
Results of the general elections in the
provinces of Ontario and (Quebec show
that the (iouin government has been
retained in (Quebec by a small major
ity, while tho conservatives gained ,a
sweeping victory over the liberals iu
Ontario. The liberals Inst many seats
in Quebec. The conservatives gained
eight seats.

SO seats, leaving 17 for the liberals,
two of which are in doubt. Toronto
alone returned eight conservatives.

FORESTS OF IRELAND
- TO BE GROWN AGAIN
DUBLIN. Ireland, June 9. The re
forestation of Ireland on a vast scale
is the latest official project. A com
mission was recently appointed which
has recommended that the area of Ire
land under forest should be raised from
300,000 acres, the present figures, to
1 ,000,000.

extinguished within 15 years if refor
estation is not begun. In proportion to
area, Ireland hns the least forest of anv
European country, aud the lack of shel

SAX PEDKO, Cal., June 10. It was
announced today from the report from
the board of injuiiy appointed by Ad
miral Dayton to investigate the explo
sion on the cruiser Tennesso has sent
its report to Washington. Nothing can
be learned as to tho contents of the re
port, the oficers here saying that it
must bo made jublic in Washington.
It has beep decided to put the boil
ers to a severe test after an inspect ion
has been mado. Captain Howard, Ad
miral Sebree and other officers of the
ship will watch the action of the boil
ors during the speed test.
