eventful week Port land ever eu joyed.
The convention of the Pacific Ad Men '
league started at the Commercial club
Monday morning, clomng the day witii
a dinner that was simply perfei t.
Admiral Swinburne und tho otlnr of
ficers of the Charleston, tho Yorktown
and the six torpedo boats pnrtiri pitted
in every event, and had murh to do
with the success of tho program. The
parades were all superior, the automo
bile races were remarkable, and the
attendance both of visitors and home
people at each and every feature is
conclusive proof of the prosperity of
the Pacific, northwest,
Printers Organize.
The Western Masters' association,
composed of all the leading printers
between tho Rocky mountains and the
Pacific ocean, met in convention at
Portland last week. They are now
thoroughly organized and every impor
tant city on the eon si is represented
upon tho executive, bonrd.

will bo rpoduced this year 200 tonn of
cherries and 500 ears of apples. The
people there realize that they will need
from 250 to 300 people in addition to
their locnl population to pick ami pack
the cherry crop,

tion Association of Tit ile Men, was
