Owners of Twin Falls Ten Million Dollar System Will Make Heavy

The Fish Lake water system is uu-
der option to ,r. 8. and V. S. Kuhn of
Pittsburg lilid New York, two of the
wealthiest bankers of tin smoky city.
They are heavily interested in water
:iud irrigation corporations, owning
over HI waterworks plants in various
parts of the country. They are at
present building immense irrigation
works at Twin Falls, 'Idaho, which aro
among the greatest in the world and
will eventually cover .100,000 acres of
land at a cost of $10,01111,111111.
W. S. Kuhn recently visited Medford
as guest of .led' D. Heard. Ho was so
impressed with the possibilities that
will result from irrigutuia in the
Rogue liiver valley that he sent his
engineers and lawyers here to make an
investigation and report. The ileal in

FRENZY OVER MARKET
The Kaglish hopgrowei-s have worked

Hicy term the "dumping" of American
hops on their market. Tlicy are still
holding iudigual ion meetings in the
various hop counties and loudly clam

the shape of n -lOshilliiig tariff on im

two mouths past and heard a lot of
evidence, but as most of the commis
sioners are free traders, nothing is ex
pected lo come of the incuiry.
Some strange statements have been
made by Kuglish growers at the com
mittee hearings. The burden of most
if the evidence has been that Oregon
and California growers can produce
hops cheaper than the Knglish plant
ers, because Hie labor on this coast is
done by Chinese. A Cranbrook grower
and brewer named Winch declared to
