LA FOLLETTE SENTIMENT
GROWING IN OREGON
l'Ol(TIAXI. April :!. The republi
can state central committee is sum
inuued to meet in Portland, April A,
to call a ntuto convention and to nauie
the number of deb-gates that even
county in the state may send to that
convent ion,
Tho republican state convention will
choose four delegates at large for the
nnt iouul convent ion; also four candi
dates for presidential electors. The
state cent nil commit tee a ho will pro
vide for conventions in the two con
gressional district, each district nam
ing two delegates, which gives Oregon,
altogether, a total of eight delegates in
the nut ioual convention. Kight alter
nates will bo named to take the pine
of delegates who cannot be in Chicago
on .lime HI.
livery republican who takes part in
the coiuiiy primaries and convention
will have a voice in naming Kooseyelt 's
successor.
Without waiting for the call of the
stale central committee, several conn
ties of Oregon already have held their
conventions und elected delegations to
it tend the stale convention. These del
gates no doubt will be accepted at the
state convent ion us the county eornrnit-
ee in nn assented to' the call of these
(invent ions.
The Marion county convention re
fuser) to pass a resolution instructing
for Taft. So far no convention in Ore
gou lias instructed for either Tuft or
iiglios. Many delegates are known lo
bo in favor of the ronomination of
IfooHovolt or of tho nomination of La
'olletto; and tho Oregon Btnt.fi eonvon-
tion is likely to instruct accordingly.
La Folletto n recent speeches in the1
ornate on the currency bill have mulli
plied his constituency over tho entire
untry. He is a favorite in tho west.
Kvory republican in Oregon should
attend his county convention and should
that, tho right hind of men nro sent
to the slate convention. Tho rospoiisi
bilit v rests upon every voter. Not
much time remains to act a nil to
