at a special election held for that pur
pose uu March J 7, 190K, a proposed
uoieudaieDt to Sectioo 72 of the City
Charter of the said City of Medford;

Whereas, ou the said 17th day of
March, 1908. the City Kecorder iu my
presence and in the presence of the City
Council of said city, did canvass the
votes given for and against the said
amendment; and,
W'h'-rcas, it was ascerlnined and de
termined upon such canvass that there
were lo:t votes cast for and "1 votes
against the said auieuduteut, and that
said amendment reeoived an affirma
tive majority of the total number of
effective votes cast thereon and entitled
to be counted under the provisions nf

Xow therefore, I, S. B. Trowbridge,
as acting Mayor of the City of Med
ferd. Oregon, in the absence of the
Mayor from the city, in obedience te

make and issue this proclamation to the
people of the City of Medford, and do
announce and declare that the whole
number of votes cast in the City of

City Charter of the City of Medford.
The people nf the City of Medford do
ordain us follows:

Oregon, and to defiue its powers and
I'lties,' approved February 6, 1907, and
o incorporate the City of Medford, in
Jackson County, Oregon, define its pow
ers and duties, and to repeal all acta
and parts of acts in conflict herewith,"

"Subdivision C. In addition to the
foregoing wurrants und bonds, as uu

ions of this section, the said council is
further authorised to borrow monev on
the faith of the city, and for that pur
pose lo issue warrants and bonds for
i he sole purpose of further improving
the water distributing system of said
city, provided that thn mains installed
iu improving said system shall all be
of cast iron of approved design and
manufacture; but in the event that said
council shall elect to instsll a system
of cast iron mains as above mentioned,
and shall issue warrants and bonds as
provided in this sutidi vision for such
purpose, the total amount of warrants
:ind bonds so issued shall at no time ex

the warruuts and bonds in (he two pre
ceiling subdivisions authorised, and in
the event that such warrants and bonds
