prised Monday evening, when Joseph
A. Reynolds, his nephew, who none of
them had seen for 13 years.fl came
to the house and inqoired if he could
stay all night. At first he was refused
lodging, but when -he said he'd stay
anyway, he was recognized. His home
is in Nebraska.

their approval or rejection at u special
ehvtiou to bo held ill said city on the

Proposed Amendment
To Section 72 of the
City Charter of the City of Medford.
The pec.ple of tho City of Medford do
ordain as follows:
That section 72 of an act of the leg
islature of the State of Oregon, entitled
"An act o repeal an act entitled An
act to repeal an act entitled "An act
to incorporate tho Town of Medford, in
Jackson County, Oregon, and limiting
its powers and defining the duties ot
its officers," and to repeal an act en
titled 'An act to incorporate the Town
of Medford, in Jackson County, Ore
gon approved February 24,
filed in the offico of tho secretary of
state February 21, 1SS9, and all amend
meats thereof, and to incorporate the
City of Medford, in Jackson County,
Oregon, umdV to define its powers and
duties,' approved February (, 1001, and
to incorporate the City of Medford, in
Jackson County, Oregon, define its pow
ers and duties, and to repeal all acts
and parts of acts in conflict herewith,"
filed in tho office of tho secretary of
state February 7, 1005, as amended by
tho act amendatory thereof filed in the
office of the secretary of state Febru
ary 13, 100.", and as further amended
by tho vote of the people of Medford
on tho 4th day of June, 100", bo and
the same is hereby amended by adding
thereto the following:
"Subdivision O; In addition to the
foregoing warrants and bonds, as au
thorized in the two preceding subdivis
ions of this section, tlie said council is
further authorized to borrow money on
the faith- of tin? city, and for that pur
jioso to issue warranty nnd bonds for
the Role purpose of further improving
the water distributing system of said
city, provided that tho mains Installed
in improving said system shall nil be
of cast iron of approved design nnd
manufacture; but in the event that said
council shall elect to install n system
of cast iron mains as abnvo mentioned,
and shall issue warrants and bonds as
provided in this subdivision for such
purpose, the total amount of warrants
and bonds so issued shall nt no time ex
ceed the sum of $25,000 in' addition to
the warrants and bonds in the two pre
ceding subdivisions authorized, and in
the vent that such warrants and bonds
shall be issued, such issue shall be in
all respects subject to the provisions
and restrictions of subdivision B of
this section, except as to the maximum
amount of such issue.
Following is the form in which the
above amendment, will npjtear upon the
ballots:
