on the Tillamook coast, near the mouth
of the Xehalem rivre, has returned to
the scene of the wreck to ascertain if
it is possible to save any of the cargo.

Months in Jail.
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 15. R. K.
Hagland, president of the Citizens'
State bank, which recently suspended,
was today sentenced to six months' im
prisonment for exhibiting a revolver
in a " rude and threatening manner '
to J. l'omansky, a depositor in the
bank, who sought to recover his money.
An additional sentence of three months
was imposed upon the banker for car
rying a concealed weapon. An appeal
will be taken.

Kphraim Owings was killed near Sa
linas City, Cal., not long since by
a Southern Pacific train, lie was found
lying alongside the railroad track, show
ing how the deceased came to his death.
The body was buried in the cemetery,,
not far from where it was discovered.
Mr. Owings was a resident of Oregon,
living near Wimer, in this county, for
many years. He was about lit) years

The executive committee of the Fruit
(J rowers' association has decided to take
important steps in presenting their side
of the argument in the question of sul
phuring fruil to the referee board which
is soon to be named bv President Roose
velt. The chairman was directed to levy a
general assessment to cover the cost, of
carrying on the campaign in Washing

PITTSIiFRO, Feb. 15. The waters
of the Alleghany, Mouongahela, Ohio,
Voughisoney and Kismiminetas rivers
