M'dford a few days since and expressed
bimyelf very much pleased with our
city.
Hear creek, in its recent rampage
took a considerable slice of choice land
off A ngus McDonald 's place, located
in the eastern part of Medford. Some
thing should bo done soon to prevent
the encroachment of this stream.
' Lincoln Savage, school superintendent
of Josephine county, was in Medford
Monday, accompanied by J. M. Hurley.
Both are successful thrcshermen and do
an extensive buOiess in Southern Ore
gon. D. H. Stewart and Miss II. J. Peter
son left on the northbound train for
Grants Pass Tuesday. They are woo
ing in the interest of tho American
lodge, and report good success in e
'. .irin - new members.
The Medford Rifle club's sfcoot was
not a success yesterday on account of
the rainy weather. There were only 10
or 11 events during the forenoon and
nothing in the afternoon. A shoot will
be held again in the near future.
Mr. and Mrs. Clare Morey, who have
been visiting in Portland with the for
mer's parents for the past two weeks,
returned this morning, and Mr. Morey
will take up his duties again at the
general store of Miller & Eubank.
I). C. Gleason of Los Angeles has
taken a permanent position as sales
man with the Toggery, "Medford's
fnshion store for men," whero ho will
be pleased to meet the many friends he
has made during his stay here, and
how them anything needed in men's
wearing apparel.
Frank Shinty, who has purchased
some Rogue River valley land, formerly
from Jowa, is an old neighbor or l. r.
Lindley's. Not having met for 3
years, they became acquainted again
since Mr. Khinney 's removal to Med
ford. William Martin Heston. formerly of
Grants Pass, probably the greatest foot
ball player Oregon ever produced, has
been chosen as head coach of the
Creighton university at Omaha. Hes
ton was halfback on Yost 's great
Michigan team and was picked for the
All-American team. He came from
Grants Pass.
