Mike Maloney's wife was an invalid,

Mike listened to that advice for sev
eral months, and finally when October
came the doctor told Mike one Satur
day evening after all of his week's

closed last summer In the lmnaha
national Forest In Oregon, which
will be a model for others next sea
son. In this paature sheep were turn
ed loose without a herder, to ahlft
for themselves.. It Is tuo soon to
draw positive coooluslons from this
experiment, bnt the ebeep did well,
and tbeie was a decided lessening In
tbe loss of forage through trampling.
It looks aa tr ough a given area of
ground can be made to oarry a very
much larger number of animals when
they are allowed to graze free, than
wben oloae herded. This fact, if es
