John Hall Convicted.
"Uullty as charged In the Indict

oonrt against Juhn H. Hill, ex-United
States Attorney tor Oregon. Sen
tence waa not pronounced and the
defense waa given until April to file
a motion for a new trial. Tbe de
fendant waa also sranted until May
1 to submit a bill of exceptions.
Chronologically, tbe significant facta

tbe 13tb of the month, went to tbe
Jury on Friday and a verdict waa
rendered on tbe 23d day of tbe trial

Both the prosecution, and the de
fense were piepared for the verdict,
feeling that the speedy decision by

Guard Is a whole lot different from
the old-time "militia." Tbey are
equipped with modern arms and all
tbe aooonterments of tbe regular
soldier, moreover, la tbe field, tbey
ate under tbe same discipline and
subjiot to the same rules and penal
ties as are tbe Midlers of tbe tegu
