Have you broken your good
resolution! yet?
This Issue of the Mail is the
fint of tbe twentieth year ol iti
existence and tbe fifteenth tinder
its present management. January
1,1193, the pretent publiiber of
this paper took tbe management
thereof and for these fifteen years
be has labored faithfully to up
build tbe paper, tbe eity of Med'
ford and tbe surrounding country,
What measure of success
crowned his efforts has been due
to a great extent to the loyal tup
port of many friends. If be has
failed in any : particular, and he
realizes that he has failed in some,
it has not been from want of effort
or earnestness it has been the
failure of the head rather than the
heart. During these fifteen years
- we hare seen and helped Med
ford grow from a straggling tit
lags to the most prosperous city in
Southern Oregon, and we hare
seen the surrounding country
changod front wheat fields of un
certain promise and pasture lands
of no promise at all, to orchards
that are making their owners in'
dependent and the fame of the
products of which are heralded
throughout the world. We have
built up the Mail from a small
sheet of insignificant circulation to
its present standing in the com'
munity. And as we look back
over those fifteen years we can not
find it in our heart to regret a sin'
gle hour of the hard work we put
in nor to feel anything but bope
for the future. To our old friends,
who have stood by us long and
well, we are grateful; to our new
ones we extend a cordial greeting
to this best land o n earth, and to
.both we wish a prosperous New
Year, and hope that we will prove
worthy of tbeir continued friend
ship.
