The Mail Ib In reoolpt of a letter
from U. A. Hover, who lives aooth
of Medford, and who la an orobardlst
of no email oallber. The letter la
written at Americas, Kansas, where
Mr. Hover and his family are now visit
ing old-time friends and relatives.
He tells of accidents, delays and fif
teen degrees below zero weather be ex
perienced while en roue from Oiegon
to Kansas; of gentle zephyrs that are
hurricanes to him; muddy roads,
warm and pleasant weather today and
zero weather tomorrow all of whloh
go to make life one continual round
of deolded unpleasantness to one
accustomed to Southern Oregon oil
mate. Mr. Hover said be and his
family would leave for Medford on the
26th and would atop en route In Okla
home, at El Fasso, Los Angeles and
San r ranclsoo. There was a time,
not a great many years ago, when Mr.
Hover would hardly think of taking
a trip like this but " oonditions have
changed late years, and the change is
wholly attribntHi to the poduotiveneas
of Southern Oregon soli and the frugal
life, the earnest effort and the indus
try of the entire family, and the good
business management of Mr. Hover.

A number of substantial improve
ments have been made in and about
the M. E. Church during the past
couple ot weeks, among which are
notloeable tbe raising and enlarging
of the pulpit, which gives the ohoir a
more suitable place than it before
oooupied and at tbe aame time the
raising of be pulpit gives the oongre
atlion an opportunity to better see tbe
aoeaker and the singers as a matter
of fact it does away with the necessity
of craning one's neck around an
unusually large bat which might, per
