These apples are without a name not beoause tbey are not wurtby of one, but beoause that a number of our best orobaid men have not been able to agree as to tbe variety In whioh they should be olassed. Tbey are very large, a bright red oolor, and resemble to some extent a Ben Davis, but tbey are not of tbat fam ily. Tbey are good three and a half tier, very firm and incidentally are as pretty to look upon as a well col ored Spitz, Will someone give them a name or rather oall them by their correct name? J. H. Dally, of Eagle Point, has bronght in a plate of the best colored Spltzenbergs shown this season and tber are good, merchantable size. A plate of Seek No Fartoer apples from Jonn Farley's orohard, in the Meadows oonntry, is also good to look upon. T FOR H DEER A peculiarly distressing accident, resulting in the death of Edgar Rob Inson, of Medford, ooonrred in tbe Elk oreek country on upper Rogue river last Thursday morning. " Perry D. Scott, his three nenhews. Albert, Edgar and Leonard Robinson and Ed. Pierce were deer bunting on Elk oreek. Leaving Fleroe in camp the four started out together, but In the thick weather Albert became sep arated from bis companions and lost his bearing. Following the sbot he ran to tbe spot and was horrified to find that tbe ball bad passed through tbe body of bla brother Edgar, killing blm Instantly. His companions, wbo wete close by, oarried the body to oamp and subsequently to Medford, where an Inquest was held by Coroner Kellogg and a jury oomposed of Messrs. Ohas. Boaidman, D. H, Mil ler, Spenoer Cbllders, H. H. Harvey, E. F. Winkler and E, P. Bennett. After viewing the remains and taking tbe testimony of tbe members of the party, a verdict of "acoidentaldeath" was returned. The case la especially sad as tho de ceased, aa well as the grief-stricken brother,are especially esteemed in tbls community. Tbe deceased waa a son of Mr. and Mrs,- H. L. Robinson, of Medford, and was a member of the Christian ohuroh and the M, W. A., under tbe auspices of which tbe fun eral was oonduoted. City Council Proceedings. The reports of Treasurer Jacobs and Reoorder Collins were read and approved. Bids were opened for the construc tion of the septlo tank. Only two bida were presented, they being those of G.
