There were present Mayor Bradshaw, Recorder Tolt, and Counollmen Whitehead, Smith, Dem mer, Osenbrugge and Cox. (At a special meeting of the counoil, held February 24tb, the resignation of D.U. Karnes was accepted and J. W. Cox was elected in bis stead. ) A petition waB presented aBking that 10th and 11th streets, between J and H streets, be graded and graveled ; then was leo a like petition asking that Q street, between 7th and 8th streets, be graded and graveled. These were both referred to commit tee on streets. Arohiteot Palmer presented a peti tion in behalf of A. O. This matter was given attention ana Mr. Beddy was assured that all matters of this nature were being looked into and that he would not be overlooked G. Li. Schermerhorn, in behalf of Capt. Nash, owner of the Hotel Nash property, stated that Mr. Nsah de sired to put an additional story onto the hotel, making it three stories high, and that he desired to use a speoially prepared material in its con struction. This material is a cement plastering, similar to tbat used on the exhibition building. A wooden frame is first to be oonBtruoted and on the outside of it will be used metal lathing and plastering, and on the inside the usual sand and lime plas tering.
