Methodist Hplscopal Church
This organization wm perieocea and
a ohureh was built in 1889. It bad at
that time a membersnip of sixty-five;
the present membership is 202; Chus.
T. MoPberson is the present puBtor.
Baptist Church
On June 7, 188f, a Baptist organiza
tion was elfeoted in Medford. through
the efforts of Elder Russell, then a
pastor at Ashland ; in the full of 1880
a ohurnb was built. At the time n
organization there were nine mem
bers, one maio and eight females. The
oburoh now has a membership of
about 250; Eov. Frederick W. Cars
tens 1b the pastor.
Episcopal Church
This ohureh was organized in 1887 ;
the first pastor was F. B. Frlohner;
the membership waa then 30 ; its mem
bershlp is now 50; F. B. Williams is
the present pastor.
Oerman Lutheran Church
This ohurob was organized iu 1880;
a oburoh was built in 1001 ; Rev. F.
Sack was its first pastor, and is still
Its pastor ; the ohurob membership at
time of organization was 20 ; the pres
ent membership is 30.
Presbyterian Church
The PreBbyterlan oburoh put up its
first oburoh building and dedioated it
in 1887. This building was destroyed
by tire and the present edifloe was
built and dedioated in 1893. Rev. M.
A. Williams was the first paBtorof the
PreBbyterlan ohureh. Tne present
pastor is Rev. W. F. Shields, who has
been here ainoe January 1st, 1903.
The membership of the oburoh is 90Jin
good standing. The Sunday school
has a membership of 120.
M. E. Church, South
The Methodist Eplsoopal ohuroh,
South, was built in 1893; Its paBtor
was Rosooe O. OgloBby. The present
pastor is Rev. H. B. Yaooubl ; the
present membership Is 130. Several
years prior to the erootlon of tho
house of worship an organization was
.effected and Borvloes were neld in
Howard's Hall.
First Christian Church
The Christian ohuroh organization
. was eft eotod in Modford in 1881, and
in 1887 a house of worship was built;
the first pastor was Hot. P.torson, and
Q. S. Watten was its first oldor; Its
' membership enrollment at that tlmo
was tourtoen ; It now has a member
ship of 100. Rov. Corbin is the pas
tor nt this time.
Roman Catholic Church
This ohuroh was built In 1888 and
bas a membership of fifty; Rev.

Rev. J. V. Mllligan, of Portland,

sojourn with friends here.
Our school opened yesterday for a
four months1 term with J. D. Coon
ran as prinoipal and Miss Clara Trlr
rel, of Talent, as assistant teacher.
Mrs. M. Seaman has sold her farm
aoross the river to A. D. Helms, of
ABhland, consideration $3000. Mr.
Helms contemplates putting an exten
sive apple orchard thereon.
We noted in last week's issue of
The Mail a paragraph in regard to the
building of a bridge acrosa Rogue
river at or near this plaoo. This haB
long been desired by the people of
Woodvllle and surrounding neighbor
hoods and we hope to see our expecta
tions realized In tne near future. The
use of row boats on bo rough a stream
sb Rogue river is a oonstant menace to
life and property.

acoeptsd a call to Merrill, Oregon, and
will deliver his farewell sermon on

to Modford and attended the play at

Sunday evening.
S. W. Jarrett, of Ashland, agent for

S. G. Van Dyke, Republican candi

neighborhood last week. He proposes

him before the primaries, and if be

Geo, Pankey and wife moved oat to
the Washburn place last week. George
is already busy with the orchard work

Sims, wbo has been ill for some time,
is not muob improved at this time. .
It is anticipated that theie will be a
large crowd at the entertainment to
be given Saturday evening, Maroh
10th, for the benefit of the sohool library.
