This ond of tbe valley came in for a goodly share of the medals at the Lewis and Olark fair, and it is a pleasure to produoers to kuow that their elforts were appreciated. Saturday afternoon Mrs. Pendleton received a genuine surprise party. Eight ladies with eight babies came to spend the afternoon. The ladies were all young and charming and the babies a most wonderful eight,as they nt ver once cried or in any way dis turbed the conversation or the amuse ments indulged in by their "moth ers, "all of which can be better un deistood whon It is known that the ages of these "mothers" ranged from four to twolve years. The quaint. grown up oostumes, the piled up curls surmounted by piquant bows, made this company of midgets picture worth gazing upon, and Jthoir enjoyment at the complete surprise added spice to the occasion. Too ill brushes. "In the straight toothbrush one thigh Done or a beef twelve inches long and four in diameter will cut four perfect Dliinics. 'ino same bono will cut only two of these fancy curved pieces. That's one thing that makes the dif ference In cost between plain and fan cy." sold a manufacturer. "When the bone la cut to length and shaped, bris tles are hand drawn by wire or thread through the brash part, each group of bristles having lta own leader. Then they are Bccurely fastened, and the work Is finished. When the bristles first go in they are fully three Inches long. After being firmly secured they are cut down to the Bute required. What bristle Is best? Well, In some re spects that's a matter of taste. It Is all hog bristle, but whether soft or hard depends on the user." PARLR.
