An architect of New York says that with the modern steel frame a building may bo carried to a height equal to seven and one-balf times the diamoter of the base. By this rulo upon an ordinary city block could be erected a building 1,500 feet high, 500 feet higher than the Eiffel tower. It would have 125 stories and cost about $30,900,000. A novel poster was Been by a re cent sojourner in Nova Scotia. It was printed on rough paper with red p int, in a childish band, and was tacked to a telegraph pole in a conspicuous position : "There will be a concert and fair in Mrs. Par son's Bitting room to-day at 2 o'clock sharp. Admission adults, Scents;' children, 2 cents; babies, two for a cent." A seed and plant reservation about twenty-five acres in extent on the Paeig river, P. It is reported that cattle and shoop men in the Sprngue river NO. 35. s :ction are engaged in a contention over use of the public range. The sheep owners conU-nd that they have a legal right to drive in their sheep from Lake County and share in the public rango. Cattle men contend that shoop would destroy the range and force them out of business, that they own land there and can't move. A correspondent from Crystal gives the following: "Saturday afternoon two children, living at Crystal, were out picking blue berries about eighty yards from the road. A wagon came along con taining three huntsrs and their bag gage. They saw the girl, who is about fifteen years of age, and be gan shooting at her with buckshot. At first the girl did not think she was the mark at which the shot was directed, although she heard the' shot whiz past her. The next discharge brought the shot still closer, and she thought it was time to make a change in position. When the hunters saw their blunder, without stopping to learn what damage they might have done, they put whip to their horses and left. It was reported that they camped at Pelican bay that night and left before daylight the next morning through fear of pursuit. These hunters left for Rogue river valley via Ashland. A few days previous to this shooting two mares, belong ing to D. Q. Brown of this place, came home, one with a shot or bullet hole in her neck and the other with a similar wound in her jaw. Several such accidents have happened to other stock in this vicinity." A Care for Cholera Infantum. In two days' time the child bad fully re covered, and is now (nearly two years sinoe) a vigorous, healthy girl. I have recommended this remedy frequently and have never known it to fail in any single instance." For sale by Chas. Strang, druggist.
