"All well fill happy lots
of fun". That is the regular
report from alio monkey cage
of Barnum's 'Circus ever since
tho keepers began closing the
monkeys wh'h Scott's Emul
sion. Consumption was carry
ing off two :thirds of them
every year and the circus had
to buy new ones.
, One clay a keeper accident
ally broke a bed tic of Scott's
Emulsion near the monkey
cage and the monkeys eagerly
lapped it up frcmi the floor.
This suggested line idea that it
jniglil do them jy.iod. Since
thci)tbt: monkeys hiwc received
regular doses and tlbe keepers
report very few deaths from
consumption. Of course it's
cheaper to buy Scott Emul
sion than ww monkeys- and
that suits -the circus men.
Consumption in monkeys
and in man is the same disease.

inpht, whom they were confined
awaiting trial for burglarizing the
store of J. Nuuan, was evidently
the lesult of a carefully prt'-ar-rimged
plan on the part of the
prisoners and friendson theoutBidn.
At the supper hour on Sunday
1 veniag the two men were in their
(11b, and were loiiked in by the
deputy sheriff. All three of the
male prisoners were seen in the
oella by the deputy. There are
four cells in the Bteel cage in which
the priflnnors were confined and are
locked Biimiltaneously by means of
a bar operated from the outside of
the oato. Tnis bar is enclosed In a
Htcol box, fitted with a look oiaiinod
to ho proof againBt ordinary lock
picks. In the main part of the jail,
outside the cage, was MrB. Taylor,
awaiting trial for adultery. Hbi

had aocoBs to the look. On Alon

outside. A holo in the corrugated
iron roof of the jail showed the
manner of their escape from the
building. A ladder, left standing
against the wall of the jail by work
men eugiged' in repairing the roof,
enabled them to descend to the
ground and afterward scale the
nigh fence around the jail. The
hole in the roof alo shows evidence
of outside help. The edges of the
iron are bent downward, proving
that the cutting wag done from the
top. The two prisoners who re
