with his family in California for a
couple of months, has decided to perm
anently establish himself in business in
this city and to that end he this week
purchased from Lex Hubbard a 25x140
foot lot on West Seventh street. The
property is just east and adjoining the
Union Livery Stable. The price paid
wns 900. Mr. Taylor will at once com

The death of N. P. Stevens, until
recently a residontof this city, occurred

cisco, delivered his celebrated humor
ous lecture on "California" ut the opera

pleased. He preached at the Christian
Church last Sunday morning and even

Surveyor J. S. Howarr? has been at
Gold Hill for some time surveying a
four mile ditch for C- E- Kay, tho min
ing man. The ditch, which will com
mence at a point near the old dam four
miles above Gold Hill, will carry 80,000
Inchos of water, and will give 4300
horse power, which will be used for an
electric light power and for irrigating,
when constructed.

Monday evening, in Medford, J. A.Perry
