about 116,000 in this ahlnmont. Other

S. A. Redden and James Roblson, of
Webster City, Nebraska, arrived in
Medford last Thursday. They came
purposely to look over the valley with
a view to locating hereabouts. So well
E leased were they wltb whit they saw
ere andthe info rmation they gleaned
that they returned to their Nebraska
bomes Monday evening, where they
will at once dispose of their property
there and return to Medford for perma
nent residenoe. Mr. Redden is a brother
of our good townsman, J. W. Redden.

Monday morning Marshal Murray
received a telephone message to be on
the look-out for a couple of small boys.
about 12 years old, who had left their
nomes in Asniand on Sunday and
started for Portland. The marshal soon
had them in custody and returned them
to their parents on the morning train.
An older boy was with them and bad
evidently enticed the younger ones
from home. Later In the day the mar
shal received word to apprehend this
older lad, but he bad skipped, and was
last heard of near Central Point. One
of these boys was a son of R. F. High
and the other a son of Mr. Foley both
residents of Ashland.
Rev. Elmer Faucett, son of onr
good townsman, L. H. Faucett, was
married on August 0th to Mibs Minnie
Lund, of Blair, Nebraska. Mr. Faucett
is now located in Chicago and is preach
ing in a Congregational Church. Rev.
Robt. Faucett, another son of L. H.,
will leave on October 15th for a four
years' stay as missionary in India. He
recentlv passed a very satisfactory ex
amination in New York City, both
nhvslcallv and thenlnpicallv. This ex
amination is required of all applicants
for missionary appointments.
Peter Elmer left for San FranclBCO
Tuesday for hospital treatment. Mr.
Elmer has been In very poor health
for several months and his visit to San
Francisco was advised by his physi
cian, Dr. W. S. Jones, who accompanied
him. His trouble is abscess of tbe
bowelB. They expect to be absent a
couple or three weeks, although they
mav be gone longer, the duration of
their stay depending upon the nature
and severity oi tne surgical operation
necessary.

We have told these people that we are
well supplied with dictionaries and that
if we were not we would not do their

Mrs. J. H. Whitman and son, Oria,
returned Monday from McAllister soda
springs, where they have been for the
