One plant has an annual capacity for turning out air-brakes for 250,000 freight cars, 6000 pas senger cars and 10,000 locomotives. The Irish PreBbyterian Church has increased steadily in every de partment. The number of families has grown from 79,091 to 83.857. The .ministerial force is 656. Their contributions for all objects during the year amounted to $947,485 It is stated that "the stone of the coronation chair in Westminster abbey is claimed to be the same which Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, used as a pillow when he lay down to sleep on the starlit plains of Judah." The chair is the most precious relic in all England. The Denver & Rio Grande is probably the only railroad in the world that keeps a chaplain. John Brunton, once a brakeman and later in engineer, holds tnat position. He is an ordained minister, and de votes his time to charitable and mission work among the employes. The tailrond company finds that it pays them. A Ninth-street wife sat up till 12 o'clock the other night waiting for her husband to come home. At last, weary and worn out with wailing', she went to her bedroom to retire and found the missing husband there fuBt asleep. Instead of going down town, he had gone to his bed room. She was so mad that she would not speak to him for a week- The state of Michigan pays a bounty for the heads of dead Eng lish sparrows. It has recently paid out over $2000 to a crowd of Indiana sharpers who had killed the birds by strewing poisoned wheat about the streets of Indiana cities. The carcasses were shipped to southern Michigan towns, and the bounties collected as on birds killed in Michigan. Compressed air as a motive power is to bo practically applied very soon in New York city on a some what extensive scale. It is a mingling of juet.such practicability thai makes the most maisteiful race. The New York court of appeals I has derided the Jay Gould tax in- heril niu re Hi.iimt thn Taw Roiihf lne ""gon agricultural college nv uor nerii.nioe case agtui.sl tne Jay Uouid , Th distributed as follows: heirs. The court holds that the ap praisement of the estate at $73,615, 437 was not an overvaluation. A very important question rujed on was that the statement of the will that a bequest of $5,000,000 to George J. Gould was a debt was a subterfuge to avoid piyment of the inheritance tax on the amount. He will have $132,789 to pay on this bequest and the result of the ruling will be to prevent resort to the "debt" dodge to beat the tax. Of late we have several times been asked the question "what right has a bicycle and rider on the street or highway?" A cyclist when riding has the same right to tne highway as has the driver of any vehicle. In meeting a team, single rig or oilier vehicle vou are to turn out to the right, giving one half the track, the other half being your right. In passing a rig from the rear, you should turn out to the left, and should ring the bell before you get too close. When riding along the highway and are overtaken by some driver who may think be owns the world, it is not necessary that you inconvenience yourself i r turn out to let him pass, but on the contra ry if he or she iuiis you down when you are in ptoper place you have a juBt claim upon them for damages A driver has no more privileges over a cyclist on the highwav than he hus over another vehicle or rig A Sure Sign of ( roup.
