Aneighteen-yoar-old Chicago girl
recently died from fright. Upon re
tiring at night she saw an object
in ner room wuicti sue thought was
a man, but instead it was a gar
ment hanging on the wall. Medi
cal help was summoned but she
died a few hours later ' from fright
alone.

Miss Martha Cardwell. who
recently finished the winter term of
school at Merrill, arrived in town

Monday for a few days' visit. She

tion, over 80,000 applications for
positions have been filed at the post
offico department. The number is
said to be somewhat smaller than
four years ago. All the careers have

the interior department for presi

A very ingenious device has been
adopted by some eastern druggists
to prevent the frequent mistakes
which occur at night in administer

nance licensing dogs $1 1 each and
in case the owner refuses to pay the
tax, he is guilty of a misdemeanor
and is subject to a fine of not more
