After March 1st the gentle man will devote bis entire attention to handling mining property, of which lie has a considerable listed and good property, too Tho best of everything that's going isn't too good for Mr. Ullman and we hope it will always be his. R. L. Dusenbury, living down on Sardine creek, was in Medford upon business Monday. The gentleman owns 300 acres of good placer mining ground on Sardine creek upon which he has a pipe at work. The proposed ditch from upper Rogue river, mentioned else where, is intended to Bupply water to all the mining land on this creek, and Mr. Dusonbury's 300 acres will be as much benefitted as any. The gentle man is very sanguine as to the profits whioh must of necessity accrue to the projectors of this ditch enterprise and as well to tho ownors of the land through whioh it will pass. There Is probably not a placer in I no on tsanlnio creek wniuii una a iwiuir reputation fur gold producing thnii has lilt) mnpmir spring iiyiirauuo uuiii', vet there uro inuiiy mines in tlint local ity which have cSmiillv as irood a repu tation, ilociumuot the' known value ot the Sulphur Springs imuo there is at tached to the news item announcing it sulo a ileal more Importance thiui is usually given in milling transfers. Unknown to anyone save the persons directly interested, there has been for some time, extensive preparations be ing maae tor building a large mining ana irrigating aiton in tnts county, which, if successfully carried through. as every indication now promises, will be of no little importance to the farm ing and mining interests of Jackson county. A party of eastern capitalists, realizing that in this county there is yet, a large amount of undeveloped mining ground, which, if properly de veloped, would yield large profits, havo Deen, tnrougn tneir agent, j. s. How ard, preparing to build a mining ditch which will cover several hundred acres of the best mining ground in the county as well as several thousand acres o farming land. Surveyor J. S. Howard has recently returned from a recon nolterlne expedition along the Dro- posed course of the ditch, and from him we learn ot the progress made already, and of the intention ot the company' which has already been incorporated. There has not been any survey made, as yet, but everything is ready for the preliminary survey just as soon as the weather wiH'permit, and as soon as this nrst step has been taken, the work will be pushed as rapid as possi ble until the ditch has been com' pleted. which will reoulre at least year's time. The water will be taken from upper Rogue river, a short dis tance from the forks along the north side of the riyer, passing Elk creek and Trail oreek, running along the north end of Sams Valley to the head of Sams oreek and Water gulch and from there to the divide between Star gulch and Sardine creek, thence around the point north of Gold Hill, thence across Rogue river in pipes, and irom tnere to KaneB creek and sur rounding country. The canaoitv of the ditch is to be 10,000 inches and the course as above described will cover about seventy miles. As may be seen, by those familiar with the lay of the country, not lesB than 15,000 aares of farming land can be irrigated from the ditch, and it also covers about 3,500 acres of rich mininir ground which can be easily develoiied with this amnle supply of water. The approximated cost ot tne uiicn is between three and four hundred thousand dollars. Among the Churches. Spring Medicine la a necessity whioh Hood's Sareapa rllla grandly supplies.
