nrvHi! mcwc nn thc riTv There is very little doubt but that Mr. R. W. Gray wilL have demand for all the sugar pine lumber his Prospect mills are capable of turning out. No sooner does his mills commence turn ing wheels than does orders come for lumber from distant points. One dealer up in Washington has written asking if three carloads could be furnished daily. Oaden, Salt Lake and Omaha dealers have also written to know in what -quantities he can furnish this grade of lumber. To all of these Mr. Gray has been compelled to reply that ie - was unable to furnish any given amount at stated intervals because of the location of his mills at so great a distance from the railroad which fact is to be regretted, but cannot well be avoided. This demand, however, has proven that no sooner will this lumber be on the market than there will be a hasty call for it. Not until within the past few months has there been any of the lumber from this particular sugar pine timber belt placed on the market, but the demand which is now being created is evidence most conclu sive that it is soon to be one of the principal localities of great resources in Southern Oregon and particularly Jackson county. The sugar pine tim ber of Oregon is embraced principally in Jackson and Josephine counties, but in the latter named county the timber is pretty well thinned out while that in Jackson is entirely a new field. The onlv difficulty to be encountered in reaching the marts with this product is the lack of railroad facilities. While the Medford -Jacksonville shortlme is looking about for profitable places for an extension of its line it could find no more lucretative direction in which to "string iron and ties than Prospect way. Par ker & Higgins want you to know that their cigars, tobacco, candies and sum mer drinks are not to be excelled any where and the Medford cigar factory is telling the people that they can now get cigars and tobacco there any kind they want. Delicate articles, such as edgings, ruchings, laces, and gossamer will not stand much rubbing. Soap Foam Washing Powder cleans them per fectly without damage or trouble. Lumsden & Berlin. B. S.
