Mr. Craven is from Portland and has but very recently taken charge of the Methodist Episcopal church at this place. He is a very pleasant gentleman to meet and will doubt less prove himself capable of doing much good church work. The property is owned by Mrs. White. SIR. JD1IX M. HAXLEY Resides just north of "Rev. Craven's place. There are about three lots in this plat and the same is quite nicely laid out and a quite cosy res idence is locatod up.n it. Mr. Han ley has lived in Jackson county for a number of years and is at present one of Medford's. business men. The residence property occupied by Mr. II. belongs to Dr. Pryce. MR. C. W. WOLTERS. Stroll ing around the galleries admiring the marvelous handiwork "of wo men of all nations, I suddenly came upon some pictures painted by Her Majesty, Queen Victoria; and I hope I may be pardoned for saying that it must be aource of great gratifi cation to her subjects, that she wields the sceptre with more grace, and far better results than she does the paint brush. The embroidery in the Japan exhibit in this build ing is wonderfully beautiful, and indeed so much is to be seen the' of great merit, that to discriminate is like trying to seek out the drops of rain that have drenched you garments during a summer shower.
