How to write ads that sell!
1. KEY WORD AND BENEFIT:

Tell the reader immediately what you are
selling. Then state a benefit to the reader.
Example: “German Shepherd Puppy, 8
weeks, silver and black male, AKC. House
trained, good disposition, ideal companion
for your child, $75. (000) 000-0000.”
A most essential item! If you can be
reached only at certain times, let your
potential buyers know when they can best
reach you. Add “evenings; after 5:00 pm;
before noon,” etc.
2. BODY COPY:
Not every potential buyer on that particu-
lar week will be in the market for your
specific item. Initially, PLACE YOUR
AD FOR FOUR WEEKS. You’ll get the
benefit of a BETTER RATE PER ISSUE
in a consecutive, multiple-insertion
schedule, and you may maximize your
potential readership. Many more people
will have the opportunity to see your ad
AT LEAST ONCE. When you get the
desired results before the ad expires, you
may cancel your ad by our weekly dead-
line and pay only for the number of times
it ran.

Maxine cherished summers
at her grandfather’s farm.
Maxine was “thoroughly inculcated” with her
grandpa’s “pay-your-own way, control-your-own-destiny”
philosophies.
Maxine married the late James Keesling in 1944. They
provided an idyllic childhood for their children. In a time
when it was uncommon for women, Maxine set up her own
real estate company, Country Northwest, specializing in
acreage. She wrote letters-to-the editor to speak out
effectively against government incursions on property rights.
Privately, Maxine routinely contributed to those in need.
Maxine is survived by her four children (Sherelyn Ernst and
husband Jerome, Scott Keesling, Susan Valenta and husband
Frank, and Holly Towle), seven grandchildren, and four great-
grandchildren.
Friends are welcome to join the family in an informal
celebration of Maxine’s life on Saturday, November 4.
