Using Biochar as a Soil Amendment for Agriculture – The biochar industry continues
to grow. Researchers report new findings that provide solid science on how char can
benefit farming operations. Industry leaders will provide up-to-the minute reports on the
emerging biochar industry. Presented by Phil Appel, co-founder of Ag Energy Solutions;

tants.

Shur Farms Frost Protection Seminar, Room D204 (No cost for this seminar but
please RSVP to agshow@wvi.com)
Frost Protection: Managing Cold Air Flows and Cold Air Accumulation in Vineyards
and Orchards – The accumulation of cold air in areas with insufficient drainage
(sometimes called “frost pockets”) results in temperature differentials within vineyards and
orchards and is the cause of radiation frost damage. This seminar will explain the dynam-
ics of cold air accumulation, how frost develops and steps the growers can take immedi-
ately to lessen the likelihood and impact of a frost event using both passive and active
frost protection measures. The grower will learn ways to optimize natural drainage and
remove temperature differentials within the vineyard and orchards resulting in a more
naturally frost free environment. Presented by Steve Hammersmith, CEO, Shur Farms
Frost Protection.
