From Finland comes this 2022 horror flick
about a strange egg a 12-year-old girl found
in the woods near home, which hatches into
a terrifying creature that performs violent
acts at her subconscious commands. Siiri
Solalinna, Sophia Heikkila, Jani Volanen
and Reino Nordin head the cast for Hanna
Bergholm in her directorial debut.
First-time filmmaker Kate Dolan wrote
and directed this 2021 horror tale about
Char (Hazel Doupe,“Into the Badlands”),
a young Dublin woman who investigates
when her mother goes missing, then
resurfaces with a seemingly different
personality. Jade Jordan, Carolyn Bracken,
Paul Reid and Jordanne Jones are also in the
cast.
This 2012 documentary about the sport’s
iconic Williams sisters concentrates on
their performances in 2011, when a variety
of crises threatened their standings in the
game ... but their off-court lives get as much
attention, through very candid footage that
also details the huge role their father has
played in their progress. Billie Jean King
and John McEnroe comment.
From Ireland and director Paddy
Breathnach (“I Went Down”) comes this
2018 drama about Jesus (Héctor Medina,
“The Last Rafter”), a hairdresser who locks
horns with his estranged father when his
dream of performing in drag comes true.
Jorge Perugorría, Luis Garcia, Luis Alvarez
and Laura Aleman also star.
