Slip-n-Slide kickball tournament on Satur-
day, July 23. The action starts at 3:30 p.m.
at the Seventh Street Complex.

LA GRANDE — The inaugural La
Grande Lit Week wraps up with events
this weekend.
Side A Brewing will host Leyna Krow,
at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21. Krow who
will read from her mystery book “Fire
Season,” off ering a story for the Great
Spokane Fire of 1889.
On Friday, July 22, HQ (112 Depot St.)
will have readings by MFA students at
6:30 p.m., followed at 7:30 p.m. by Jon
Raymond and his new climate fi ction
novel “Denial,” which offi cially releases
July 26.
MFA students will also read at 3 p.m.
Saturday, July 23, at EOU’s Schwarz
Theatre.
The week will fi nish with a reading
at 7 p.m. Saturday at The Local, 1508
Adams Ave., by Emily Prado and her book
“Funeral for Flaca,” which won a Pacifi c
Northwest Book Award. A DJ set follows
at 8 p.m.

ASTRONOMY EVENT AT
WALLOWOLOGY JULY 26
JOSEPH — The Wallowology Natural
History Discovery Center is hosting an
astronomy outing on Tuesday, July 26, at a
dark location near the center, 508 N. Main
St. This event is in conjunction with the Ida
B. Wells High School Astronomy Club.
The cost is free, and beginners are
welcome. Adult supervision is required for
participants younger than 16. Pre-register
by emailing info@wallowology.org.
The session will include a short intro-
duction to astronomical observation and
guided help using a telescope to view
planets, star clusters, nebula and galaxies.

monthly wine walk is Thursday, July 21,

JOIN JUNIOR BIRDWATCHERS
AT PENDLETON LIBRARY
PENDLETON — The children’s area of
the Pendleton Library is the place to be
for bird enthusiasts. On Wednesday, July
27, Junior Birdwatchers of all ages will
paint birdhouses, creating their own bird
feeders, and teaming up to build a giant
bird’s nest for display in the library. The
event starts at 4 p.m.
The library, 502 SW Dorion Ave., is
open Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.,
and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. It
